This is by far the worst shop I have ever dealt with. I'm serious, I never leave reviews but this was a ridiculous experience I had with these people. They are evil, another person said this in one of the reviews and he is absolutely spot on. I have owned quite a few Saabs and Volvos and have dealt with many specialty shops. He is the most disrespectful shop owner I've ever talked to. His wife who runs the counter is extremely rude and unprofessional. I towed in my 9-5 for a coolant leak, it had also been overheating even with coolant in it. Mice had gotten into it over the winter but I cleaned pretty much all of that stuff out before towing it. She called and said he bypassed the leak and to come get the car out of their parking lot, he didn't want to work on it because mice got in it. He charged me $100 for a used battery. I got a ride - I live an hour away - and drove it out of the lot. Car cranked very very slow - battery was not good at all. Car overheated in a few miles of pulling it out of his shop. Was on highway, put it in neutral and shut motor off to coast to stop. Battery died almost immediately and my lights turned off going about 60 on highway at NIGHT. I am serious. Thank god no other car were right by me. I have no electrical issue, alternator is fine. He will not take responsibility for any of this. Got a 3rd ride down there and changed thermostat on side of highway, put in NEW battery I bought, cranks and runs great now. Thanks to myself. These people are unethical in their work and left me stranded. Took no responsibility whatsoever. PLEASE do not go through this yourself.
I've had alignment problems on my 07 9-3 ever since I bought it new. I tried the store where I bought tires and other repair shops but the alignment never stayed good for more than 6 months. The dealer didn't even get it right when it was under warranty. Eventually I went to Jim Smart, who did it right. Slightly higher price but now the car goes straight, tires are wearing evenly and after 6 months it's still aligned. Should have gone to him first. Over the years I've bought 2 used SAABs from Jim and I've had clutches, brakes and other work done. While his repair prices are slightly higher than other shops, I've had no bad experiences with Smart. He and his mechanics know SAABs.
I used Smart Motors for over 10 years and they made owning a Saab enjoyable. Expert work everytime I had the car serviced/repaired. They deserve an A+.
Oh no oh no oh no. I brought my Saab in for an estimate for one problem, which turned out to be a surprisingly reasonable one, but they said that before they would fix it, I had to repair other, more pressing problems. These prices were far from reasonable and I ended up repairing them elsewhere for half the cost. When I called in to get the first, low estimate problem fixed (3 times), I didn't receive a return call. When I finally reached them, they said that the part was unavailable. I stopped in to talk to Jim, he didn't remember me and told me that he didn't know what I was talking about. Jim was belligerent and insulting, saying that he'd like to shoot my main mechanic, that my car was a piece of..., and and and this is after I waited 30 minutes while he, on what sounded like a personal call, ignored me. And then, I took my my car to Denver, the problem was not what Jim said it was, not even close. Another mechanic familiar with the shop and my car said that Jim must not have really looked at the first problem and all I can surmise is that he might be reeling me in for the other issues. He also told me things about my car that the others said we're not true. Is he dishonest? Is he overpriced? It certainly seems like it. But he is so so so mean and unhinged, why would you want to risk it?
